Christmas is coming

It seems like only yesterday that we were taking down the tree! And that time of year is here again. It is Willoughby's first christmas, bless his little paws. He has been introduced to the christmas tree, and the christmas tree is still standing.

I hope you are all looking forward to Christmas! x

Fabric village

I created this little village using my gorgeous Tilda fabrics and the embroidery setting on my sewing machine. It is really fun to do and I could do it all day. But then I ran out of threads, so this is how it looks. I would like to add more to it when I have stocked up on threads. Having final finished my college project it was nice to have some spare time to do something that I wanted to. But that has not lasted long, back to college tomorrow for the start of a new 6 week project. Wish me luck!

Last of summer

Summer is, I'm pretty sure, over. So these pictures I took a week or so ago for a college project are the end of the summer. The beautiful cosmos are almost finished and the cold is setting in. Well, only 6 months till spring.

Fabric house

I did this with some of my Tilda fabrics and using the embroidery setting on my sewing machine. I really like the way it looks and am going to do more of this.

Tilda fabrics

These I some of my Tilda fabrics. They are so gorgeous and just the kind of thing I like. They have colour and plenty of pattern, but feel quite delicate. I don't yet know what I'm going to use them for, but it's nice to just have them!

My bag

I made this bag in my first tern at college. It is inspired by Marimekko, the Finnish fashion company. It was fun to design and even more fun to make! I really enjoy this sort of thing and would like to do more of it. It was a good project and I enjoyed making it.

Salcombe

What has happned to the weather? It is so miserable, and has been really most of the summer it seems. I thought I would put up some pictures of my holiday in Salcombe, Devon to cheer me up. We went the first week in July and other than the rather rainy picture opposite we had fantastic weather. It seems like such a long time ago now, and I go back to college in less than a week. It was a brilliant holiday and I love Salcombe!
Above is the view from East Portlemouth, looking across the esturary towards Salcombe. Below right is the view from Gara Rock headland.
This was the view from my bedroom window, and I actually took this picture at 4.30am! It is the best view, and looks gorgeous at anytime of day.

The Fashion Fairy

I made this as a Summer project before I started college last year. It took ages to make, but I have it up in my room and it one of my favourite things that I have made. It is where the inspiration for Ariella the fairy came from, as I enjoy detailed embroidery.
There is quite alot going on, but hopefully it all works together! I find it helps to have lots of gorgeous fabrics, sequins etc to really get the creative juices flowing! But this sort of thing definatly needs patience and time to see it to the end. I think it is worth it though!

Flowers in the garden

As well as looking beautiful, these Roses in the garden have a really gorgeous smell. The colours are beautiful, yellow with pale pink. I love flowers and use them alot as inspiration for my designs.

The Sweet Peas are looking gorgeous this year, again I just love the colours. Despite having Willoughby the dog, the garden is looking really good this year and has lots of lovely flowers to photgraph.

Willoughby after a long day causing mischief, such as chasing the lawnmower, ripping up flowers, eating apples and digging up the lawn.

Ariella

I made this just because I love sewing. It is not perfect and I was experimenting really. I used some of the fabrics I bought online, which I now have a huge choice of! The name Ariella is for no particular reason, I just like that name. I have written down a name I like for every letter of the alphabet, but that could take a while! I was inspired to do this because I did something similar for a project for college, and I loved doing it. I will put a picture of that up on here soon. Sewing like this can be time consuming (sorry, IS time consuming!) but I think it looks really good and I do not mind as I enjoy it.

Gifts

I made these as gifts for my cousins a little while ago, and they kindly lent them back to me for photgraphing. I really enjoy making small little gifts and these were really fun to make. I have also made felt hearts, butterfly's and flowers. It is great to be able to give friends and family handmade presents! I also love painting or sewing my own cards, I will put some pictures of some of them on here soon.

More fabrics

More gorgeous fabrics! I ordered these online from a website called www.cottonpatch.com. It has a fantastic selection of fabrics. These are called Tilda, and I love them. I am planning to make lots of little items with these fabrics, so I will keep you posted. I also bought some Tilda ribbons which are so pretty and I could not resist them. A good website to spend alot of money!

Liberty fabric

Last week my friend and I went to London for the day and I bought this gorgeous fabric in Liberty. I could have spent all day in that shop, everything in it is gorgeous, but very expensive! I am going to make a bag using this fabric, so watch this space.

Cambridge

Wandering round Cambridge we spotted this tree, with stunning colour on the leaves. Cambridge is a great city, and we did a self-guided walk round the backs of the colleges. They are amazing buildings, all with a fascinating history. There are many with intricate carved details, and lovely shapes and patterns. There is plenty of inspiration for fashion and textile design in these buildings. A great city to have on my doorstep.
